Twice A Day Toothbrush
2026 | 3D print
A concept Surround toothbrush that integrates toothpaste dispensing directly into the handle, allowing the paste to travel through the brush head in a single motion. Designed to support caregivers of autistic children, it simplifies brushing routines while enabling efficient one-handed use.
The Surround toothbrush uses three brush heads to clean multiple surfaces of the teeth at once, helping make the process faster, more consistent, and tolerable for the child.
Goal:
Redesign an overlooked everyday object to improve daily routines.
After interviewing Diane Chang, DDS, who has a background at the University of Michigan Integrated Special Care Clinic, she emphasized that parents/caregivers frequently brush with only one hand available, meaning tools must support one-handed operation while maintaining control and stability.
Project Proposal:
Develop a concept Surround/360 degree toothbrush that integrates toothpaste dispensing into the handle, allowing paste to travel through the brush head in a single motion, to support caregivers of autistic children’s brushing routines while enabling efficient one-handed use.
