Metals & Jewelry
Project Type
Metal
Date
2024
This course focused on learning how to work with metal as both a functional and expressive material. The goal was to understand the technical foundations of jewelry making—such as sawing, soldering, filing, and forming—while also exploring how small-scale objects can carry personal, cultural, or symbolic meaning.
We studied the connection between craftsmanship and intention, learning how to transform raw materials into wearable forms that reflect identity, memory, or narrative. Attention to detail, patience, and problem-solving were all key parts of the process.
Beyond technique, this class encouraged us to think critically about the body as a site for art—how jewelry interacts with movement, skin, and daily life. It was a space to explore design, storytelling, and material experimentation on an intimate scale.
